Catha Lee Combs is a certified public accountant (CPA) with over 30 years of experience in public accounting. In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations and strategic direction, Catha specializes in non-profit accounting, auditing, and tax services. Her consultation in these areas includes designing and implementing accounting systems , developing and updating accounting policies and procedures, and providing training to executive directors and Board members in best practices, budgeting, and financial management. She has trained participants in the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Fellows Program, the Castle Colleagues program, and members of HANO (Hawaii Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations). She also provides small to medium sized businesses with accounting and financial reporting support.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Catha holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Hawaii and an undergraduate degree in accounting from Santa Clara University in California. She began her professional career with the predecessor firm to international public accounting firm Ernst & Young. Her professional affiliations include membership in the American Institute of CPAs, the Hawaii Society of CPAs, and the Hawaii Association of Public Accountants.
Catha is a dedicated community servant, serving on the board of HUGS (Help, Understanding, and Group Support) for over 20 years, currently as Secretary, but also as its past Treasurer and President. She was also on the Board of Learning Disabilities Association of Hawaii, Hawaii Senior Services, Inc., and served on the State Nutrition Advisory Committee, which focuses on the nutritional needs of children with special health needs.
